Children

Resolving disputes involving children, including their living arrangements, their ongoing financial provision, whether a parent can relocate with a child and other matters including changing a child’s name can be difficult and highly stressful.

Children can become embroiled (consciously or unconsciously) in parental disputes, and it is essential to seek advice to avoid these pitfalls. We work regularly alongside family therapists and parental coordinators to provide parents with the tools and techniques to improve their communication and reduce tension and toxicity in the home that may be impacting negatively on a child.

We aim to resolve matters concerning children through constructive discussion and negotiation. We will refer cases to mediation where this is appropriate (i.e. there are no safeguarding issues or a background of domestic abuse).

If it isn’t possible to resolve matters directly or via mediation, an application can be made to the court. We have extensive experience dealing with international and unusually complex cases, with particular expertise in cases involving allegations of parental alienation and domestic abuse, including financial abuse and coercively controlling relationships.
